This was the first final fantasy I ever played so its one of my favorites and holds many memories for me. True to form from the DS port. Controls are good. I will say I wish for this version they would not have done the updated graphics and left it like the original like they did 5 & 6. It takes away from the nostalgia of the original game.
The game is awesome and one of the best FF games there is. Frame rates are good and audio is top notch, with an exception. But overall a great mobile port. I know Im not the only reviewer to mention this so Ill keep it short. Having to manually sync iCloud saves is silly. There should be a setting to make it automatic when the game is saved. Whenever I switch to another app and back to the game, the game loses sound and the only ways to get it back are to force close the app and relaunch or restart my phone.
Ive had this game less than a week; thank goodness for refund policies.
Im 5 hours in and Im so addicted! Strategy is the name of the game! So until you get to the point where you have 4 party members be sure to take lots of potions and use the dark knight to attack while everyone else either supports or spell casts. Cant believe i bough this game and forgot about it only to realize its this amazing!
The very first Final Fantasy game I ever played was FF IV, and I was was like 12 or 14 or something I cant really remember. I just remember that it was my birthday and my grandma took me to Walmart to buy a gameboy advance SP and a copy of Final Fantasy IV advance. I played that game non stop until my eyeballs fell out of my head, remembering the final boss being the most epically brutal sob in the history of all RPGs. So I set out on a quest to purchase and beat all the FF games on the App Store in order, and a couple of weeks ago I finally made it to the almighty number 4! First off, I always considered FF 4 to be the best in the series once I started to play the others in the years since that fateful day, but when I made it to FF III in the App Store, my memories of FF 4 soon faded and I considered 3 to be my new fav in the series because it BLEW ME AWAY! But I knew that once I made it to 4 in the App Store, that it would most assuredly reclaim its throne, and indeed it has. Everything about the game is flawless. Not only the fact that as with FF III, there are absolutely no technical bugs to speak of whatsoever, but I felt like a kid again for the 30+ hours of the incredibly rich nostalgia-laden gameplay. Every boss, every dungeon, every heartfelt moment, which might I add have been made a million times more heartfelt this time around due to the amazing 3D graphics and dialogue infused cinamatic cutscenes. The only problem I think I have with this version is that they (spoiler alert) have completely removed the Lunar Ruins bonus dungeon that you unlock by beating the game. It consists of 50 floors and at the end was the third and final stage of the last boss Zeromus...the almighty Zeromus EG!!!! Unfortunately that was one of the only memories I had lest of FF 4 so I was pretty disappointed to find out it was removed. But all in all...I am a very very happy man!!!!
Thanks for the update to 64 bit! Keep up the great work guys. Cant wait for final fantasy ix to come out! Hoping not much longer. It is my favorite final fantasy game!
The best!!
Battles are super slow and laggy now. Game is otherwise fantastic. The touch controls work pretty dang well, and its a nicely done port all around. Please fix the battle sluggishness issue since the latest update!!
Ive never spent this much on an app before but I loved this game on snes. I was worried that they made it 3D-ish. But it actually works while keeping the game the same as before. Controls are easy and comfortable. Its hard to put this game down. Totally worth the price.
I played through this game once, being a completionist and having to have all maps 100% (reward or not) I 100%ed the entire game; however, I did not get the treasure hunter Augment!!! So I angrily and annoyedly went through a second play through thinking must have accidentally not 100%d the missable dungeons. On second play through EVERY maps at 100% and STILL NO TREASURE HUNTER AUGMENT!!! Worst still there is NOTHING anywhere to provide any clue as to what the hell happened!!! Or where I missed a spot. This MUST be added, because I know I 100% every map I visited and went to every map people said is commonly missed, EVERY MAP is 100%, nothing is missed for the second time in a row.
Square is as bad as George Lucas with changing things that dont need it. This game was great with snes graphics. The camera angle really distracts from the game. Im not sure what the point of updating a game or the worse is.
Latest update FINALLY fixed the "Load Captain" typo in the opening sequence.
A perfect port from the DS version to iOS. Loved the story and characters in this one. The developers did such a fantastic job with the interface and moving was flawless. AMAZIN GAME!
This was my first Final Fantasy game, and it was a great ride. This game is all about great characters and a fun, twisty story. The OST is beautiful and the variety of environments you explore is astounding for its time. Its hard for me to believe this game is 25 years old. The gameplay is nothing mind blowing today, but the mechanics are very solid and fairly easy to grasp. Cecils adventure in FFIV is massive, but still manages to reach a very satisfying conclusion. I found myself really caring about this world, enough that I might even pick up the (fan service) sequel down the line. Im really glad I picked this as my first Final Fantasy and would 100% recommend it to anyone looking into the series.
This is good like the DS version, but when I do "wait" for the battle mode it is still active, and I get attacked multiple times while I wait to make my choices.
This game is not appropriately updated and has no sound on iOS 9. For such an expensive game, thats a huge issue!
This was the first final fantasy I ever played. Wonderful characters and story was well developed. But I hate the redone 3D version. I wish they had keep the original SNES 2D version. Or at least make it an option. I would rather play in that way than this. Loses all its nostalgia in this version.
